Harlie Mae

In February 2007 Harli Mae became suddenly paralyzed in her back legs; She couldn't feel or move them. An MRI revealed that she had had a Fibrocartilagenous Emboli (which is like a stroke in her spinal cord.) Surgery doesn't help this problem, time and physical therapy are the only remedies.

Her family was commited to helping her. This is a video of one of her first visits to Sunset Hill using the underwater treadmill. We are facilitating the movement of her hind limbs while the water helps support her pelvis to help her rebuild the strength and muscle memory to walk.

The second video is after a few months of therapy. She is stronger, and no longer needs help walking at home! She currently goes for 1-2 mile walks every day on a leash, and can play with her brother Ripley again.
